Male Infant Circumcision
Male circumcision is a common and ancient procedure, whose roots date back to the Abrahamic era. The goal of the procedure is to surgically remove the foreskin covering the tip of the penis. Most parents decide to circumcise their son based on religious, cultural or personal reasons.
There are very well documented health advantages associated with circumcision which continue to benefit men throughout life including:
– Reduces the risk of urinary tract infections
– Reduces the risk of penile and prostate cancer
– Reduces the risk of cervical cancer in their partners
– Decreases the risk of contracting or spreading sexually transmitted infections
– Improves genital hygiene
It is generally recommended that the procedure be performed in the first two weeks of life to promote better healing, unless contraindications are identified by the baby’s pediatrician or family physician.

Circumcision Method
Our team uses the GOMCO clamp technique for circumcision which studies have shown is the most safe technique available. It has the major advantage of giving protection to the glans (head of the penis) using a steel bell while the foreskin is surgically removed as well as the absence of a foreign body remaining at the site afterwards.
